Captain Matt & The Boatcrew announce a series of lineup updates as the band heads confidently into 2026 with a focused sound and a clear creative direction.
Guitarist Sailor Shane will be stepping away from the band. Shane was the first musician to join Captain Matt during the early stages of building the project, and his creativity, musicianship, and passion helped shape the foundation of The Boatcrew.
“Shane brought heart, energy, and a strong creative voice to the early days of this project,” said Captain Matt. “I’m grateful for his contributions and have nothing but respect for him as a player and as a person. I wish him nothing but success in whatever he pursues next.”
As the band moves forward, NOLA Joel will step into the role of lead guitarist. Joel’s feel and approach align closely with the band’s evolving Gulf Coast Country sound, and he will play a key role as the band prepares new music and live performances in 2026.

The band also welcomes Harold as the new drummer for Captain Matt & The Boatcrew. Originally from New Orleans and a United States Marine Corps veteran, Harold brings discipline, feel, and a deep sense of groove to the rhythm section as the band builds a strong foundation for the year ahead.
In addition, Captain Matt & The Boatcrew are actively seeking a female fiddle player to join the lineup and help fully lock in the band’s signature Gulf Coast Country sound. Interested musicians are encouraged to reach out via email at captainmattmusic@gmail.com or through the band’s official website at www.CaptainMattMusic.com.
With a unified lineup and shared vision, Captain Matt & The Boatcrew head into 2026 focused on new music, live shows, and continued growth of the #BOATCREW community.
Further updates will be announced in the coming weeks.
