Captain Matt & The Boatcrew Launch Annual #BoatcrewBeach Cleanup and Community Celebration on September 19

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

FREEPORT, Texas — Captain Matt & The Boatcrew are inviting volunteers from across Texas to join them on Saturday, September 19, 2026, for the inaugural #BoatcrewBeach Cleanup, a family-friendly event celebrating International Coastal Cleanup Day through community service, live music, and coastal stewardship.

Earlier this year, Captain Matt & The Boatcrew officially adopted approximately 2 miles of shoreline at the end of FM 1495 on Bryan Beach in Freeport, Texas, through the Texas General Land Office's Adopt-A-Beach Program. The adopted section of coastline has since become known as #BoatcrewBeach, symbolizing the band's long-term commitment to preserving part of the Texas Gulf Coast while bringing people together through music and service. The adopted area can be viewed on the Texas General Land Office's official Adopt-A-Beach Interactive Map.

The cleanup will take place from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., as volunteers work together to remove litter and improve public access to the beach. Individuals, families, civic organizations, schools, churches, businesses, Jeep clubs, and 4x4 organizations are encouraged to participate. Off-road enthusiasts are especially invited to assist by helping relocate larger pieces of driftwood where appropriate, improving accessibility for future visitors while working alongside fellow volunteers.

The event is expected to draw a diverse group of community leaders and supporters. Notable surfers, fellow musicians, local entertainers, and other special guests may stop by throughout the morning to lend a hand and celebrate a shared commitment to preserving the Texas coast.

Following the cleanup, participants will head to Sharkies Restaurant & Bar in Surfside Beach for a Captain Matt & The Boatcrew concert from 2pm-5pm. Admission is simple—bring a bag of trash collected during the cleanup and enjoy an afternoon of live music, community fellowship, and family activities.

The celebration will feature activities for all ages, including opportunities for children, and adults that never want to grow up, to paint "Lil Dinghy," the band's nationally touring van, participate in a limbo contest, meet members of the growing #BoatcrewFamily, and enjoy an afternoon designed to celebrate the volunteers who invested their time serving the community.

Throughout the day, Captain Matt & The Boatcrew will also be filming the official music video for their upcoming single, "Sand On Our Boots." Rather than hiring actors, the band will showcase the real volunteers, families, and community members who choose to spend the day making a positive impact along the Texas coast.

Exclusive #BoatcrewBeach merchandise will also be available, with proceeds helping support future cleanup efforts and the continued growth of the event.

Organizers envision the #BoatcrewBeach Cleanup becoming an annual Gulf Coast tradition and the foundation of the future Boat House Music Festival. The event will be held each year on the weekend closest to Captain Matt's September 18 birthday, creating a lasting tradition that combines community service, live music, family entertainment, and coastal conservation.

"The #BoatcrewFamily has never been just about music," said Captain Matt. "It's about bringing people together to leave every place better than we found it. We hope this becomes a tradition that families look forward to every year."
