“Dinghy Days” was born during a Captain Matt TikTok livestream and is truly a #BoatcrewFamily-inspired song.
One night, a guest jokingly told Captain Matt, “You write songs about beaches, coastal living, and sailing your yacht, but we want to hear more about your dinghy.” Everyone laughed, another person started throwing out lyric ideas, and before long, an inside joke was turning into an actual song.
The result was “Dinghy Days,” a playful song about how you do not need a big yacht or anything fancy to enjoy life on the water. Sometimes a little dinghy, salty air, cold drinks, good music, and the right company are all you need.
Of course, the double entendre was part of the fun, especially when Captain Matt started introducing it live by asking, “Who’s ready to take a ride on my dinghy?”
What Captain Matt never expected was that a song created from a late-night joke with the #BoatcrewFamily would eventually become one of their favorite songs.
They inspired the joke. They helped inspire the song. Then they made “Dinghy Days” their own.
