PRESS RELEASE
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Houston, Texas — Gulf Coast Country artist Captain Matt announces the release of his new album, The Beginning: First Cuts Before the Band, available for digital download November 22. This album captures the earliest phase of his songwriting journey—raw, heartfelt recordings made before the formation of his full band, The Boatcrew.
Captain Matt is also proud to announce a new partnership with Fanner Guitar Works, the internationally respected boutique instrument maker known for innovative craftsmanship and custom builds.
Fanner Guitar Works to Build Custom Ukulele for Captain Matt

As part of this collaboration, Fanner Guitar Works is building a custom baritone ukulele tailored to Captain Matt’s unique blend of Texas storytelling and coastal soul. This instrument will play a central role in future studio sessions and onstage performances throughout 2026.
“This custom ukulele is part of my story now,” said Captain Matt.
“Fanner understands the values behind what we stand for—Faith, Family, Freedom, and Fun—and I’m honored to create with them.”
Exclusive behind-the-scenes content will be released as the ukulele is crafted.
About the Album: The Beginning

The Beginning offers an intimate look at the foundation of Captain Matt’s career. These “first cuts before the band” were written during a period defined by hard lessons, uncertainty, long nights, and an unwavering desire to build something meaningful.
The album cover features a worn-out captain staring into the future—a portrait of exhaustion, grit, and determination. It represents the moment before everything changed, when the future was unclear but the dream was already alive.
“Those years shaped me,” Captain Matt says.
“The man on that cover is tired but hopeful. That’s where these songs come from.”
The album will be available November 22.
